Chapter 13

Miles

The bamboo floor of the bungalow was cool on my bare feet as I sat on the edge of the bed and ran my hand down my face. My jaw was smooth.

A gentle breeze came in through the window, where it tugged at the sheer white curtains and then danced over my bare back and shoulders. It was cool, but pleasantly so, and I lifted my gaze up to the patio door which was propped open.

Piper stood outside on the blue porch.

She had her back to me.

Her hair, all dark tumbling curls, hung down her back and swayed gracefully just like the curtains by the bed. She was leaning slightly forward with her forearms resting on the porch railing as she gazed out at the beach and the ocean. Little glimpses of blue water could be seen between her legs and on either side of her if I was to lean just a little way in either direction.

She was nearly naked, which I found odd.

But wonderful.

Oddly wonderful.

All she had on was a short white beach cover-up. But there was no bathing suit underneath to be covered. It was very obvious that she was completely naked underneath. I could see the outline of her bare ass against the fabric and the curve of her hip, and the sight of it was as maddening as it was mouth watering.

Piper turned and looked over her shoulder at me. Her lips were redder than rubies, and when she faced me directly, I swept my eyes over the length of her body from her nipples, hard and dark beneath the sheer white fabric, to her toes, which were painted the same shade of red as what she wore on her lips.

Her skin was tanned and seemed to shimmer in the sunlight on the porch.

She moved forward and came through the screen door. The muscles in her thighs flexed with every step she took, and the bamboo floor creaked softly under her toes as she walked on the balls of her feet.

“I’ve been waiting for you to wake up,” she cooed. Her voice sounded far away like we were under water.

I opened my mouth to respond, but no words came out.

Piper smiled and continued closing the space between us. “Did you sleep well?”

I nodded.

She was right in front of me now. All I had to do was reach out and I’d be touching the sheer silky fabric of her cover-up.

Piper reached down and took my hand in hers, and then she placed it on her bare thigh.

“Touch me,” she whispered.

I ran my hand up her thigh. Her skin gave way to goosebumps beneath my palm, and I watched, transfixed by her, as she began drawing the hem of her cover up upward at the same rate at which my hand moved.

Inch by inch, she bared more of her nakedness to me.

When I ran my hand up her hip, she pulled the sheer fabric up over her head and let it fall to the floor.

“Do you like what you see?”

Words were still too far out of reach for me.
